Searching for an Apartment

I’ve decided to become a woman. Thing is, I’ve spent the last few days looking for a place to stay in Geneva. Note that I use the phrase, ‘place to stay’, rather than apartment. The latter, of course, is a luxury available only to the rich and famous - or those gainfully employed in the service of money.

Since I am neither, I’m looking for a ‘place to stay’. That is a full-time job. Consider this - in the summer of 2004 a group of students were found sleeping in the University of Geneva library. It has been reported that ILO interns sometimes used the nap rooms in the building (yes, they have nap rooms - that’s a different story). A friend of mine spent 1 year looking for that perfect apartment. Its not just that they are expensive - they just aren’t available.

Anyway, I digress. Some of the adverts ask specifically for women, so to increase my chances of getting a place to stay, I may become a woman. Those out there won’t feel my pain, but les Genevois?
